Position Overview:
The Radio Continuity Director plays a crucial role in overseeing the seamless flow of radio programs, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality content, and maintaining a cohesive on-air experience. This role requires a deep understanding of radio production processes, excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain a broadcast continuity plan that ensures a smooth transition between different radio programs and segments.
2. Coordinate with radio producers and hosts to ensure timely execution of program elements, such as music, interviews, and advertisements.
3. Create and update program logs, outlining the sequence of content, timings, and any necessary technical instructions.
4. Monitor live radio broadcasts to ensure adherence to established program formats and brand guidelines.
5. Collaborate with the production team to identify and resolve any technical or scheduling issues that may affect the on-air quality.
6. Conduct regular quality checks to ensure accurate airing of commercials, promos, and other sponsored content.
7. Manage and maintain the station's music library, ensuring proper categorization, tagging, and organization for easy access.
8. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor analysis, and evolving audience preferences to optimize program content and on-air experience.
9. Assist in training and guiding on-air staff, providing them with the necessary tools and information to deliver consistent and engaging broadcasts.
10. Collaborate with the creative team to develop and implement promotional strategies to increase listenership and drive audience engagement.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcasting, or a related field.
2. Proven experience working in radio production, preferably in a continuity or scheduling role.
3. Strong understanding of radio broadcast operations, including program formatting, scheduling, and technical requirements.
4. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
5. Proficient in using radio automation software, scheduling software, and other broadcast-related tools.
6. Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accurate execution of program logs and content sequencing.
7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with on-air talent, producers, and technical staff.
8. Familiarity with music licensing regulations and copyright laws related to radio broadcasting.
9. Knowledge of audience research methodologies and data analysis tools to inform programming decisions.
10. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently as well as part of a team.
